Troubleshooting
What to do when a download is slow, stuck, refused or blocked, and how to make a diagnostics bundle.
Connectivity Doctor
If downloads fail and you do not know why, run the Doctor from Settings, Advanced. It checks, in order, your network, name lookups (DNS), the connection to the server, the security certificate, and your proxy, and tells you in plain words which step failed.
Windows SmartScreen warns about the installer
The installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn. Check the SHA-512 on the home page against your file (how), then choose More info, then Run anyway.
Antivirus removes a partial file
Some antivirus programs quarantine files that are still downloading. Add Rapidly's download folder to the exclusions of your antivirus, or look in its quarantine and restore the file. Rapidly will notice the missing file and starts that download again if it cannot continue.
A download is slow
- Open the download's Details and read the bottleneck message.
- If your own link is full, pause other downloads or streaming.
- If the server limits the total speed, try another time or add a mirror.
- Run Speed Lab to see whether Rapidly's method helps on your connection.
Proxy refused
If a download says the proxy refused the connection, check the proxy address, port and sign-in in Settings, Network. A proxy that needs a password stores it in Windows' own protected storage.
Disk full
Rapidly stops a download cleanly when the disk is full and keeps what it has. Free some space and press Resume.
Diagnostics bundle
Settings, Advanced can create a diagnostics bundle for support. It shows its contents first and is written only after you confirm. It holds recent logs and settings with web addresses and file names removed. It does not hold your files or passwords.
