Using Rapidly

Browser extension

Send downloads from Chrome or Edge to Rapidly, what the extension sends, and how to remove it.

The extension for Chrome and Edge sends the downloads you start in the browser to Rapidly.

Install

  1. In Rapidly, open Settings, then Browser. It shows whether the helper that connects the browser to Rapidly is installed.
  2. Install the extension in your browser and copy its ID into the box on that page, so Rapidly knows which extension it may talk to.
  3. Start a download in the browser. Rapidly adds it, with the same file name.

Options

The extension has an options page with four settings: Take over downloads automatically, Only files larger than (MB), File types always handed over, and Send cookies with captured downloads.

Cookies

Some sites only give a file to a signed-in browser. The extension can pass the cookies for that one download to Rapidly. This is off by default, and the browser asks for permission before it is turned on. The cookies are used for that download only and are not kept.

What is sent to the app

The extension talks only to Rapidly on your own computer, through a private channel that only your Windows user can open. It sends the link, the file name the browser chose, and, only if you allowed it, the cookies for that link. It never sends anything to the internet by itself.

Uninstall

Remove the extension in your browser. Uninstalling Rapidly removes the helper and its browser entries as well.
