Using Rapidly
Queue, schedules and limits
How many downloads run at once, priorities, schedules, bandwidth windows and the when-done actions.
How many run at once
Rapidly runs at most 3 downloads at the same time, and at most 4 from the same site. The rest wait in the queue and start by themselves when a place is free. This keeps each download fast and keeps servers happy.
Order and priority
On the Queue screen you can drag downloads into a new order, or set a priority (critical, high, normal or low). A higher priority starts first, and gets a free place first.
Schedules
Give the queue a schedule to download only at chosen times, for example at night. Downloads that are running when the time ends pause safely and continue at the next window.
Bandwidth windows
A bandwidth window sets a speed limit for part of the day, for example a lower limit during work hours so video calls stay smooth. Outside the window there is no limit from Rapidly.
When everything is done
You can choose an action for when the whole queue has finished: nothing, close Rapidly, sleep, hibernate or shut down the computer. For sleep, hibernate and shut down, Rapidly first shows a visible countdown of 60 seconds that you can cancel. If you changed this setting in the last 10 minutes, it will not act and tells you why.
Folders
Choose a default folder and, if you like, a separate folder for each kind of file. Rules for moving or sorting finished files are in post-download rules.
