Privacy
There are no accounts. Nothing about you is collected.
This website
- It sets no cookies and loads nothing from other websites: no analytics, no fonts, no scripts, no maps.
- Like any website, its host (Vercel) and GitHub can see the internet address of a visit in their own logs. That is outside our control and is not linked to anything about you.
- The only thing it remembers is your light or dark choice, in your own browser (not a cookie), and only if you make one.
What the app sends
Besides the downloads you ask for, Rapidly makes these requests and no others. This list is the same one the app uses, and a test checks it against the addresses the app builds.
The Rapidly website
GET {site}/updates/manifest?channel=stable¤t=<version>Asks for the signed description of the newest release, so the app can check it before downloading anything.
It sends
- the channel name (stable)
- the app version, in the address and in the User-Agent line (Rapidly/<version>)
It never sends
a cookie, an account or sign-in, a file name, a link you downloaded, your computer's name or user name, any identifier of you or your computer.
The Rapidly website
GET {site}/updates/latest.yml?channel=stable¤t=<version>Only when a newer release exists and passed the checks: asks for the file list that the downloader needs.
It sends
- the channel name (stable)
- the app version
It never sends
a cookie, an account or sign-in, a file name, a link you downloaded, your computer's name or user name, any identifier of you or your computer.
GitHub
GET https://github.com/<releases repository>/releases/download/v<new version>/<installer file>
Downloads the new installer, only after the signed description was checked. The app then checks the file against the signed SHA-512.
It sends
- the address of the installer (a normal web download)
It never sends
a cookie, an account or sign-in, a file name, a link you downloaded, your computer's name or user name, any identifier of you or your computer.
The Rapidly website
GET {site}/notifications?version=<version>&since=<date>Fetches news and tips from LankaNova. The date is the newest item you already received, so the same news is not sent twice.
It sends
- the app version
- the date of the newest news already received (left out the first time)
It never sends
a cookie, an account or sign-in, a file name, a link you downloaded, your computer's name or user name, any identifier of you or your computer.
Turn it off
In Rapidly, Settings, Privacy has a switch for the update check and a switch for news. With a switch off, Rapidly makes no request at all for that purpose. See also the privacy page of the documentation.
