Privacy
Exactly what Rapidly sends, what it stores on your computer, and how to remove it all.
Rapidly has no accounts and no tracking. This page says exactly what leaves your computer. The Privacy page of the site lists the same requests.
What Rapidly sends
Besides the downloads you ask for, Rapidly makes at most two kinds of request, both anonymous:
- Update check:
GET /api/v1/updates/manifest?channel=stable¤t=<version>to the Rapidly website. - News:
GET /api/v1/notifications?version=<version>&since=<date>to the Rapidly website.
Each carries the app version, and the news request carries the date of the newest news you already received. There is no cookie, no account, no file name, no link and no identifier. The first line of the request also names the app and its version (User-Agent: Rapidly/<version>).
When an update is installed, the installer itself is downloaded from GitHub.
Both checks can be switched off in Settings, Privacy. With a switch off there is no request at all. Settings, Privacy also shows the exact request lines.
What the websites can see
Like any website, the Rapidly website and GitHub can see the internet address a request comes from, in their own logs. That is outside Rapidly's control and is not linked to anything about you.
What is stored on your computer
- your settings
- the list of downloads and a journal of progress
- the Notification Center history
- logs, which stay on your computer; a diagnostics bundle is created only when you ask, and you see its contents first
All of it sits in your user profile. Nothing is uploaded.
How to remove everything
Uninstall Rapidly from Windows Settings, Apps. To also remove the settings and history, delete the Rapidly folder in your user profile's application data folder after uninstalling. Files you downloaded stay where they are until you delete them.
