Adding downloads
Every way to add a link: paste, drag and drop, many links at once, the clipboard, and the advanced options.
Paste a link
Choose Add link and paste the address. Before you confirm, the link preview shows what Rapidly learned from the server:
- the file name (taken from the server, cleaned so it is safe to save)
- the size, or "Not told by the server" when the server does not say
- whether the server supports resume, so a stopped download can carry on where it stopped
Duplicates
If you add a link you already have, Rapidly tells you instead of silently downloading the same file twice. You can still add it on purpose.
Many links at once
Choose the Many links tab and paste a list, one address per line. Rapidly checks them and adds the good ones; lines it cannot use are listed so you can fix them.
Drag and drop
Drag a link, or a text file that contains links, onto the Rapidly window.
Clipboard capture
When you copy a link, Rapidly can offer to add it. This is off until you switch it on, and it only reads the clipboard to look for web addresses. Nothing from the clipboard is sent anywhere.
Advanced
Open Advanced in the Add dialog to set things for one download only:
- extra request headers (for example a referrer a site asks for)
- a proxy for this download
- an expected checksum, so the finished file is compared with it
- mirrors: other addresses of the same file, used if the first one is slow or fails
Tip: If a site only works while you are signed in, use the browser extension. It can pass the download to Rapidly with the permission you give it.
