Start
Getting started
Install Rapidly, start your first download and find where the files go.
Rapidly is a free download manager for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). This page takes you from the installer to your first finished download.
Install
- Download the installer from the home page. Check the SHA-512 shown next to the button; how to check it.
- Run the installer. It installs for your user only and does not need administrator rights.
- Windows may show a SmartScreen warning because the installer is not code-signed yet. After you have checked the hash, choose More info, then Run anyway.
Note: Rapidly only supports Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit. There is no version for other systems.
The first run
A short guide opens the first time. It asks three things: where downloads should go, whether Rapidly may offer links you copy (off until you choose), and whether it may check for new versions and news. You can change all of them later in Settings.
Add your first download
- Choose Add link (or press
Ctrl+N). - Paste the address of the file. Rapidly reads a few bytes to check the link and shows the file name, size and whether the server lets a stopped download carry on.
- Choose where to save it and press Add.
You can also drop a link onto the window, or send downloads from your browser.
Where files go
By default Rapidly uses your Windows Downloads folder. Settings, Downloads lets you choose another folder and a separate folder for each kind of file (videos, documents, programs and so on).
C:\Users\<you>\Downloads
Next steps
- Adding downloads: every way to add a link.
- Pause, resume and crashes: why you can close the PC at any moment.
- Speed Lab: measure what Rapidly does on your own connection.
